HARVEST IN THE BENEFICE

This year we have decided to support the Archbishops Mustard Seed Appeal with the benefices Harvest Festival financial contributions.

The Archbishop of Canterbury has spoken out about creating a more just financial system to help over 8 million people who are struggling with debt in the UK. Many resort to high cost loans to cover the cost of basic necessities such as food and fuel. Problem debt and exploitative lending are having a devastating effect on their physical and mental health, their families and entire communities.

Following successful pilot work in two regions, the plan is for a national roll-out to tack- le the issue head-on. The Archbishop of Canterburys Mustard Seed Appeal is raising vital funds to make this happen.

The Church Urban fund has been asked to develop the Just Finance Network, to deliv- er essential financial services, training and support across England.

Churches and individuals are being encouraged to support this scheme, raising funds by Harvest, to enable the national roll-out of this invaluable initiative.

We in the CRoFTT benefice want to be a part of the fundraising events for the Mustard Seed Appeal as we work together to build a just financial system. To find out more about the scheme, go to www.mustardseedappeal.org.uk

At the Harvest services in the Benefice we shall be collecting items for the Julian Trust Homeless Shelter in Bristol. Please give what you can to help. www.juliantrust.org.uk
